My Love Counter

Privacy Policy

Learn how My Love Counter collects, uses, protects and deletes account details, counter information, uploaded photos and security data when you use the service.

1. Who is responsible for your data

  • My Love Counter is the service responsible for processing the information described in this policy. For privacy, security or data requests, contact support@mylovecounter.com.
  • This policy applies when you use mylovecounter.com, create a counter, save an account, upload content, accept an invite or submit a report.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information: email address, account creation time and verification status when you save a counter or use a magic link.
  • Counter information: names, relationship start date, selected theme, visibility choice and display preferences.
  • Content you choose to add: photos, memories, events, gift ideas, milestones and optional descriptions or notes.
  • Security and technical information: session and CSRF tokens, IP address or a hashed IP value for abuse controls, browser user agent, timestamps, login/security events and error logs needed to protect and operate the service.
  • Report information: report reason, optional description, the reported counter and a hashed IP value used to prevent spam. We do not ask reporters to provide an email address in the report form.

3. How and why we use information

  • To create, display, save, edit, share and delete counters and the content you add to them.
  • To send one-time magic links, authenticate users, manage partner invitations and provide account access across devices.
  • To secure the service, prevent fraud, abuse, spam and unauthorised access, investigate reports and maintain technical logs.
  • To maintain, troubleshoot, back up and improve the reliability of the service. We do not sell personal data or use your photos and counter content for advertising.
  • Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we process information to provide the service you request, to meet legal obligations, and for legitimate security and service-operation interests. We request consent where it is legally required.

4. Visibility and sharing choices

  • Private counters are intended to be visible only to authorised owners or members. Link-only counters can be viewed by anyone who receives the shared link and are marked noindex for search engines. Public counters may be viewed by anyone and may be indexed by search engines.
  • Do not share a public or link-only URL unless you are comfortable with the names, photo and counter date displayed there. Anyone with a shared link may be able to view that page.
  • Memories, events, gift ideas and private milestone details are not displayed on the public shared counter page.

5. Photos and content about other people

  • Upload only content you have the right to use. You are responsible for obtaining permission from people shown in photos or mentioned in content before you upload or share it.
  • Do not upload unlawful, exploitative, intimate, non-consensual or child sexual abuse material, or content that reveals sensitive information about another person without a lawful basis.
  • Uploads are restricted to supported image formats and are processed to create a safer, optimised image file. No technical measure can guarantee absolute security.

6. Service providers and international transfers

  • We use hosting, database, email delivery and security providers to run My Love Counter. These providers may process data only as needed to provide their service to us or where required by law.
  • Depending on your location and our providers, information may be processed in countries outside your country. Where applicable law requires it, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
  • We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, enforce our terms, comply with a lawful request or defend legal claims.

7. Cookies, sessions and local storage

  • We use essential session cookies to keep a signed-in session active and CSRF tokens to protect forms and account actions.
  • For an anonymous counter, an edit token is stored in your browser localStorage so that the same browser can edit the counter. Clearing browser data may remove this access; saving the counter to an email account helps avoid that loss.
  • We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) on our public marketing and calculator pages to measure aggregated visits and performance. GA4 is not loaded on account, authentication, counter-management, invitation or private-content pages. We do not use advertising cookies. See the Cookies page for more detail.

8. Retention and deletion

  • We keep account and counter data while the account or counter remains active, unless a longer period is needed for security, legal obligations or dispute handling.
  • When you delete a counter, we remove it from normal service access. Some limited residual data may remain temporarily in security logs or hosting backups until those systems rotate under their normal retention cycle.
  • You may request deletion of an account or personal data that you cannot remove in the app by emailing support@mylovecounter.com. We may need to verify that you control the account before acting on a request.

9. Security and security incidents

  • We use HTTPS, access controls, hashed security tokens, CSRF protection, database access controls and upload restrictions designed to reduce unauthorised access. Security measures reduce risk but cannot make any online service completely secure.
  • If we discover a suspected personal-data security incident, we will investigate, contain it, preserve relevant evidence, assess the impact and take corrective measures.
  • When required by applicable law, we will notify the relevant authority and affected people without undue delay. Under the GDPR, certain reportable breaches must be notified to the supervisory authority within 72 hours after awareness; whether that applies depends on the facts and the law.

10. Your rights and contact

  • Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, receive a copy of it, withdraw consent, and complain to a data-protection authority.
  • To exercise a right or report a privacy/security concern, email support@mylovecounter.com with enough information for us to locate the relevant account or counter. Do not send passwords or edit tokens by email.

11. Changes to this policy

  • We may update this policy when the service or legal requirements change. The latest version is published on this page with its effective date.
  • Effective date: 11 July 2026.
